Classification: Barbara Johnson reported on changes discussed last year and
a vote was taken on each of the following to accept as presented:
(l) Sec. 2, C\.22.1, Steel Cupmay include all material centers unless the
award restricts to metal only.
(2) Sec. 74, Cl. 147.3, Wood finishes, including paint, lacquer, etc. and will
add to the glossary "paint on the surface when scrapped ofl dyed as in the pores
of the wood..." A clarification for members to understand the difference between
paint and dye.
(3) Sec. 11, Cl. 2ll, Impression inlay and will add "embedded metal in
glass-clear and colored or black."
(4) Sec.9,4, Cl. 178, Synthetic Polymers. Add "snap togerhers" and to be
defined as a molded plastic button of multiple separate pieces joined together in
one oftwo ways (l) the shank snaps thru body to back (2) one part snapi into or
onto a base part with no shank involvement. These parts (l) may be easily
snapped apal't or together or (2) may have been fused or glued together at the
factory to attach more firmly and may now not be separated easily without
breakage.
(5) Sec. 4-Black Glass the sectiorl has been expanded to conform with Sec.
3-clear and Colored Glass. changes will appear in the next classification listing.
(6) Backgrounds-will now accept "Backgrounds in all material sections
where they are appropriate.."
It was requested that all changes in the glossary that must be voted on be
printed one year before a vote is taken for everyone's benefit. Also, not to make a
change until tried. This request will be directed to the Board for funher action.
A definition will appear in the February bulletin relative to "Cold Enamel',
and also a definition for "realistic and./or odd" in Sec. 18. Cl.342. As requested a
definition will be published on "srnall jewels".
NEW BUSINESS:
A motion was made "that a committee be formed to revise the By-Laws
which will stipulate that the membership shall have input into the business and
policy. making decisions of the organization. Motion dismissed for lack of a
secono.
- Nominating Committee: June Seroskie, representing the Nominating
Comrnittee, submitted the following names for Board of Directors: Jocelyn
Howells of Oregon, Phyllis Haas of North Dakota and Freddie Finch of England.
Parliarnentarian Donald Van court in conducting the election asked for
nominations from the floor. There being none the Secretary was asked to cast one
ballot for the slate as presented.
President Jane Leslie expressed appreciation to Sheila Bird, Jean Longo and
Gretchen Payne for their contribution to the Board of Directors and welcomed
the new Board members: Jocelyn, Phyllis and Freddie and invited thern to the
next Board meeting.
Applause was extended to Wisconsin State for hosting a great show. There
being no fuither business, meeting adjoumed at 9:15 a.rn.
