NATIONAL BUTTON BULLETIN
VI-PLEASE: Destroy all old nrernber$hip blanks. Some of the old
$1.00 dues blanks ale still being circulated. New blanks may be had for
the asking.
As I write this in eally November, the mail-man is beginning to groan
as he comes up the steps $'ith the mail twice daily. (He has a long route
and tells me that 4? Keith Stleet is his heaviest load). When you read this
youl Secretaly will l.re all but subrnelged. In an office there is a Secretary,
stenographer', typist and a file clelk. 1'his Secretary is all four PLUS!
Please he considelate and patient. When memberships come in by the
dozens daily it is impossible to send out membership cards and answer the
many lettels plomptly. Dnring the busiest months. effort will be made to
send out membelship cards twice monthly.
This is YOUR olganization. I irope you lrave read calefully-and with
interest-all the leports (including the Secretary's Minutes of the Annual
lteeting) given in the November BULLETIN. It was a splendid Annual
Meeting and a perfectly gland Show. It was a pleasnre fol me to meet and
know so many members. There was fun and surprises in having names on
the file cards colre to life. Thel'e ale many happy memolies of the hos-
pitality of the Hoosielites and the beautiful buttons, but the lasting and un-
forgettable memory will be the friendly spirit so much in evidence through-
out the Show days.
Because of the greatly increased cost of paper stock and printing, we
have only a Iimited number of extra BULLETINS of each publication. We
can no longer flll ordels for complete sets of the 1947 BULLETINS. Sorly,
but there ale no mol'e copies of the July Directory-BLTLLETIN available.
As in 1947, I shall strive dnling 1948 to give ot my best efforts as
Secretary. Youl officels ale wolking together for the good of the NBS. If
I'<ru are asked to serve on cornmittees or to lend a hand, please say YES.
Let us all rvork together to boost our hobby of button collecting and to
reach more mernbers that they may shale aud enjoy with us the many
pleasrrres. Remember )'ou al'e an Ench Nlernber committee to secure new
members.
Here's hoping you all had a HAPPY NEW YEAR. We're off-1948.
Happy Buttoning to you all.
BESSIE F. CHAMBERLIN, Secretary
