The enamel disc is mounted on a thick disc of ivory into which a heavy loop
shank was placed before assembling' Then a copper collet holds both to-
gether; this rim vr'as at one time gilt. When the button is turned over the
entire back is ivory, similar to the button pictured in this issue under the
title of "Paintings on Ivory Reflect Flemish Art."
We would be tremendously pleased to hear from our readers the identi-
ties of these pictures which we suppose to be Italian scenes' This bit of
identiflcation work should be seized upon by either clubs or individuals and
the results will be credited at a future issue. The buttons were sholyn dur-
ing the Forum and were taken from the Kohn Collection'
UNDER GLASS PAINTINGS ON SATIN
Another type of decoration in the similarly constructed buttons are
