0ctober 1997 NATIONAL BUTTON BULLETIN 241

3-4. Pearlized back with gold metalized snap-through center of head of
             Medusa.
3-5. Transparent with iridescent surface. Gold snap-through center. This
has a shank that splayed out bigger after being inserted, and could be broken
if rough attempt is made to snap apart. I've found that pinching the shank
slightly allows it to be removed but why risk breakage?
3-1 . The top white piece snaps through the center to form the shank. It
rotates around. creating a mild psychedelic visual effect.
3-8. Unusual heart shape with 6 multi-colored balls which roll around the
       track; 2-hole sew-through.
3-9. Similar to 3-8 except round. Top red piece snaps into bottom white
piece, forming the track for the balls, which are put in when pafts are snapped
together. Be careful ifsnapping apafi not to lose any ofthe six different
       colored balls.
       3-10. Adorable 2-hole sew-through children's buttons: (a) has purple car
which moves on (and snaps out of) the open track; (b) has a gold airplane on
       black all parls matte finish.
3- I 1. Love these mechanicals hope more examples tulx up for this space.
3-12. Look-alikes (imitations) are lots of fun to collect. These two resemble
antler: (a) has white metal center, and (b) has white metalized plastic center.
Haven't seen a good bone irnitation yet.
3-13. Two imitation hom with bronze rnetalized heraldic centers: (a) Tower,
       (b) shield, crown. 2 rampant lions, banner.
3-14. Two imitation tortoise with bronze pierced heraldic centers: (a) Star,
       (b) shield. crown. two olive branches.
3- 15. (a) Imitation wood with metalized gold hand, which snaps through.
       (b) Imitation pastes in border are created by molding recesses in border which
are shiny silver on a black plastic, with a gold metalized snap-through center.
This also comes in clear colorless plastic.
       3-16. (a) Interesting imitation pearl with "bark". (b) A hard-to-find white
metal center lady's head, which snaps through imitation smoky pearl body.
3-11 . (a) White metalized unusual mask. (b) I love this button! Unusual
metalized colors resembling platinum and silver. A unique snap-on
arrangement; i.e., only the long curved side piece snaps on, by means of two
prongs which project from the body, snapping into two holes on the separate
       piece. Glued-on metal shank.
3-18. (a) Gold metalized parts on fountain pen. (b) Gold center with three
birds, snapping through black and gold border.
3-19. (a) Great imitation of clear colorless glass, molded back, with a red
snap-through center. (b) Imitation clear colorless glass with silver luster.
