            The Cover Button

Few buttons have left me as awestruck as this stamped silver
specimen. This beautifully rhythmic pattern depicts an army of
medieval helmeted pikemen with their terrible long pikes forming
a bristling bridge of steel poised in dramatic dynamic opposition
to the behatted townsmen defendins with their dreadful halberts.
The symmetry of weapons delineate a
                                      scene ofstark silent carnage. A
                                        few ofthe bodies have already
spilled under the pikes in the
                                          foreground. This
                                          unforgettable button is from
                                          the collection of the late
                                          iuanita Hill.
