    button of matching  design above each. The page  served  a.s an introduction  to
    aflne bibliography  of ttre many sources  of Kate Greenaway material.  . , . The story
    of the Wilkie and Sellery buttoru, by a collector who has done much research
    on work-clothes  buttons made in rllinois, was completed in the FaJl of 1965
    issue.  . . . A very comprehensive study of bees and their incorporation  in button
    desigrx,  was a8companied by a page of flne examples. . . . Briefer contributions
    were en Brooklyn  Bridge and Egyptian designs.
    MrssouRr. This bulletin  is always so satisfactory with never a hint of amateur-
    ishness.  . . . A department  of questions  and answers  was a help to the members of
    this s?te society  in preparing  trays for their state show.  . . . fxptanafion of judging
    procedure  was a help in planning  entries. . . . A conkibutor talked or ueus ano
    expressed regret  that there a,re so few buiton  designs  depicting beUs. . . . A search
    for button factories  that might  have existed during the early years of the state is
    under way arrrglg Missouri collectors. . . . one contributor  oultined  the discovery
    and uses of celluloid, including  dress buttons and pinbacks,  political  and slogan.
    Modern  plastic,  vrith the possibi[ty  of its deterioration,  was discussed. . . . Munsey
    Inagazines  of more ttra.n seventy  years  ago furnished  the material on campaign
    buttons-bottr  the collectible type and the pinbacks now fast coming- in-to
    favor. Adults and children wore amusirg  pinback slogans in the 1gg0s. . . . Ttre
    short article about Heinrich  schliema.nn's discovery of ancient ryoy and Mycenae
    was of interest.  . . . A plea for the preservation of original charm strinfo  was
    made by a concerned contributor.
    rowa. Articles  in this burletin  catered  to a vaxiety of interests,  some of them
    being: Snow Crystals, Button Borders,  Queen  Louise, Buildings on Buttons  and a
    reprint  of a piece on horse  designs. . . . A contributor presented  some d.ifierent
    ideas about bridle buttons and rosectes. . . . Another  d.iscussed  peter paul  Rubens,
    reproductions of whose work we find on molded black  composition  buttons.
    FLOBII).q- Thi,s publication,  with its now familiar  blue  cover,  featured an article
    on fa.mous places  tha,t are found pictured on buttoru.  . . . several  collectors of this
    state  society reported  on tleeir button  flnds in European  countries.
    CALIFORNIA. Added information was brought out in a second  discussion  of th€
    design called Angel and child.  . . . on the front covers of the Lwo most recent  issues
    of tlris buretin large reproductions of single unidentifled buttons  replaced the
    usual state society button  design, and the Editor asked  help in identifying them.
    . . . A list of winners  of special  Awards at the california  state  sholu  wa.s no doubt
    of interest and irupiratiOn  to society members.
    PTONEER BUTTON CLUB oF caNADA. contents  of this publication  indicate
    much enthusiasm. . . Canadian collectors  have  discovered many uniform  and
    miutary  uniform  buttons of canadian origin and are continuing the search,  pooling
    their informatiQn.  . . . A contributor  called attention  to the heraldic significance  of
    some of the uniform button  designs.  . . . rn a recent issue of ttris bulletin a col-
    lector  told of learning  about another early-day  f.a,ctr:lry that may have produced
    buttons.
    WASIIINGIION.  As your  Reviewer  was about to mail this the postman brought
    a copy of the f,rst lva.shington  state Button society Bulletin.  A beautuul  rormat,
    with hardboard and  grass-clotJr  cover, desiened to hold several  future  bulletins,
    it is a very flne accompli,shment. ExceUent  quality  paper, attractive  clear type  a^rrd
    good  lrawings,  make up a superior  bulletin.  . . . Articles carried  were: Story About
    Japanese  Print on ttre Oover, Diarnonds  and Diamond  Substitutes,  The Liberty
    Cap, Enameling and Grisaille.  . , . Congratulations,  Washington,  and may we see
    you  regularly.
