Carollne M. Toothe-Iuinois
The retiring National President, because of her valuable knowledge of NBS
affairs, is inviGd to Board membership anal the honor this year went to \Irs'
Caroline M. Toothe.
In the March 194? Bulletin (p. 81), we gave you
the biography of our immediate past President. Mrs.
Toothe-served as Director from 1947 to the close of
1950; as First Vice-President,1951 and 1952 ancl as
NBS President, 1953 and 1954. This is Mrs. Toothe's
ninth year of continuous selvice in the Official Famill-,
and she is always generous in sharing the information
she gleaned during her ]-ears of service.
Mrs. Toothe has also been a member of the Edi-
torial Staff of the Bulletin. I'or a, number of vears,
she has been the Etlitor of her state publication, the
"Illinois State Button Round-Up."
In 1950, her husband, Charles, !og! over a new
business venture. Together, they built a motel in
Knoxville. and, since that time both Caroline and
Charles liave i:een kept very busy. They rnanage
somehow to save a bit of time for a trip to National.

TRAVELING EXHIBIT READY
Mrs. Blanche Darling, chairman of the NBS Travelins Exhibit, repolts
that she now has nine frames ready to be sent out. Her aim has been to
select such educational material as could be explained in a few wofds and
illustrated with actual buttons better than in any other way'
The NBS extends borrowing privileges to local clubs and state societies
subject to these rules:
1. The borrower may obtain all frames or any selection of them'
2. The Society delivers the loan without cost to the borrower'
3. The borrower g;uarantees its return to the chairman by p1'epaid' in-
sured carrier.
4. The borrowing period is one month of actual possession'

when the exhibit is wanted for a special dated event, such as a button
sholv, fequests must be made well in advance. The cards have been en-
closed in cellophane-covered cardboard boxes to keep shipping costs as low
as possible.
The subjects now ready are: clean and coloretl Glassn one frame tl'om
Division I, one frame from Division III. The Division I frame was planned
to show selected classes from the regular classification. The Division III
frame was planned to show some of the newer types of eilass now on the
market as well as to call attention to the revival of some old types, such as
Baperweights.
