194 NATIONAL BUTTON BUI]LETIN May,1954
THE PRESIDENT'S MESSACE
Knoxville' Illinois
!ss1 plisnds;-
"The heavens declare the glory of God and the
flrmament sheweth His handywork." Another spring
in all its glory is here again; and even while we are
reveling in it, we are reminded that warm summer
days will soon be closing in around us, to sap our
enthu:iasm. So now is the time to do those things
rvhich take energy and ambition. Don't put off doing
tho3e trays for Detroit. You will accomplish more
now, than during the hot rysafhg1-s1d Show time
isn't far away. The complete list of Special Awards
wa: in the March issue of the Bulletin.
In this issue, you will find the new classification
for Textiles, a class which has always been somewhat
neglected. I know you will be interested in studying
this classification and in mounting your fabric buttons.
C:rloline lf. Toothc By this time you are, no doubt, becoming familiar
with the Pearl Classiflcation which appeared in the
l\Iarch issue. We appreciate the extensive work, done by Mrs. Margaret
Kelso and Mrs. Jane Adams, in completing these two classes. Our catalogue
is steadily progressing.
Our N.B.S. official button is ready and orders are being fllled as fast
as they are received. If you haven't ordered yours yet, send to Mrs. Florence
Aberle, 611 Western Ave,, Albany 3, N. Y. and she will see that you get
one at once. You will be proud to wear the button. It is unique and dis-
tinctive, and you will want to have our very own N.B.S. button.
Wtird has come that we have another new Life Member, Miss Lillian
A. Clark, Rochester, N. Y, Congratulations and welcome to our group.
Your action in taking out a life membership, indicates your faith in our
organization and its stability.
My thanks is extended to two new officers, who both are doing such
efficient work, Mr. H. Campbell Scarlett, the Secretary and Miss Caroline
A. Stutz, the Adveftising Manager. We are very fortunate to have these
two members willing to give so much time and such good service to our
Society. And I am also glad to report that our own Bessie Chamberlin is
improving in health.
Our Secretary reports that N.B.S. mernbership is picking up again; but
won't you check the members in your local clubs and remind those who
have forgotten, to get in their dues. All Bulletins are still available.
Congratulations to New Hampshire State Button Society on its new
State Bulletin. Volume 1, No. t has arrived, and it is both attractive and
interesting.
I am hoping to see you all in Detroit. Plans for an outstanding Show
are being formulated. We are counting on each of you to have a part in it.
May the coming summer days be happy ones for you.
Sincerely,
CAROLINE M. TOOTHE.
