                                 THE PRESIDENT'S  MESSAGE
                                                              Coronado. Califolnia
                                      Dear Friends:
                                          When this message  leaches you, my hus-
                                      band and I  rvill be at  Camp Cully  in  Yosernite
                                      National Park.  We  meet many friends  there
                                      each yeal  and look  folward to living  for  two
                                      weeks out under the large pine trees.  It  would
                                      i.le very nice to meet some  of you there.
                                          We  have  just  entertained house  gr-rests
                                      from  Massachusetts and France.  Mr.  Charles
                                      Parker,  President of  the  l\fassachusetts  State
                                      Society,  and Mrs, Parker, spent the  week end
                                      with  us, and we enjoyed becoming  acquainted
                                      with representatives  of our Eastefn  Section  l'er-v
                                      rnuch.  We  also  en joyed  enteltaining  N{r's.
                                      Poisson,  wife  of  Edouard Poisson, rvho is  a
                                      member of N. B. S.  Mrs. Poisson (rvhose  pen
                                      name is Claude  Salvy) is a prominent journalist
                                      in  France;  she is  spending trilo months in  the
                    Fay Vilim         United States on an  exchange  proglarn.  She
                                      has written  an interesting  book on the histol'y
                                      of flowers.
                  The }[ay Bulletin was full  of excellent  material pertaining  to  the 1st.
              2n.d aud 3r'd Divisions; I know you are still digesting  it.  This July issue is
              of  s1:ecial r.alue as it  brings us up to date on our  members and clubs for
              anothel' yeal'.  It  also contains  the "Index" for  our  1954 publications.  Oni'
              sincele thanks to the Gordon Bennetts.
                  I want to thank all state and local societies  who have so kindly sent me
              their  publications.  I  am enjoying and gaining much from each of  them.
              Wi-ch I  might comment  on every  one but it  would take many pages to re-
              count all the  good  things I could say about them.  They are of special inter-
              est to lne since I feel that I have a bettel acquaintance  with all of you.
                  Oul' East and West Membership Committees,  as well as our live rvile
              Secletaly, afe lvorking hard to obtain  new members.  Do pass the word aloug
              to your  clnb members  that we need evel'y  one of them.
                  O'"rr Traveling Exhibit will  start on its way in  the near futule.  Ion'a
              has asked fol  it  first which  shows that they are really interested  in  learning
              Ilorn all available  material at hand.  lVe are hoping to enlarge the exhibit to
              cover many rnore sections. Elsewhere in this issue you will  find the list of
              tlays availal)le. We hope there will  be something  of special  interest to you.

                  This issue contains your proxy  and also an application for  your  ently
              irlanlis.  Please send for the number of slips you requir"e  as soon as possible,

                  It  i,< most impoltant that all entries be in Philadelphia  on tinre, as those
              alri'r'ing late can not be  judged.
                  Any local or  state society  belonging to N. B.  S. may enter an exhibit
              rvitlrout charge.  Our State displays  are becoming  so impressive that  all of
              us should  take time to study them at the Show.
                  ADy tray not having won a blue ribbon before at a N. B. S. Shorv is
              eligil:]e fol  cornpetition. Merits are always encou|aged as they often con-
              prise some of the best trays at the Show,  and may be entered  until they iiave
