                          THE EDITOR'S NOTEBOOK (Continued)
The Editors s'ho work out the various classifications will be pleased
to have your reactions to their work. I feel sure that each material
grouping will have a new interest for you as you try to work out each
              classification.
Seems like everything is popping at once. X'rom all over the country
we hear of collectors working enthusiastically on the new glass buttons.
Some already have 20 examples in large lacy glass (it can be done in
transparent, colored opaque and in black); some are doing 42 or ZE colored
transparent or specializing in single colors like turquoise with trim, white
with trim, or even whole trays of opaque glass hearts. A few are doing
trays of colored and black with metal shanks. . Everyone seems to be
delighted with the examples he finds and nearly everyone seems to be
              swapping with someone else.
At this writing three of our dealers are in Europe on buying trips.
They are Mr. George Ertell, Mr. Charles Hill-Tout, and Mr. Josebh Staven.
Mrs. Fricks will be spending the month of June abroad.
Mrs. Mary Bunting, of Penn'a., loaned to us for photographing thirty_
three modern colored enamel buttons depicting Greenaway chaiacters. The
huttons originated in India and will be displayed in Detroit.
There is sadness today as I conclude these notes. Word has just
corne of the passing of Robert w. Johnson of Missouri. Evervone who
knew Bob will feel that they have lost a real friend. His cheerful, and
friendly manner, as well as his valuable help at our National shows are
              things we will all remember.
